The Dell PowerEdge R660xs server is a 1U rack platform that combines the Sapphire Rapids Xeon Scalable platform with DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 I/O and hot-plug storage for high-density data centre deployments.

This R660xs configuration ships with an Intel Xeon Silver 4410Y 12-core processor, eight 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS/SATA/NVMe drive bays and DDR5 memory support. The Xeon Silver 4410Y runs at 2.0GHz base on the Sapphire Rapids platform with DDR5-4800 and PCIe 5.0. The R660xs succeeds the R650xs, bringing 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable improvements. PCIe 5.0 doubles available bandwidth for NVMe controllers and high-speed NICs. The 1U form factor supports 42 servers per standard 42U rack. iDRAC9 provides out-of-band remote management including virtual console and automated monitoring. Expandability

The R660xs supports dual Xeon Scalable processors, significantly increasing core count and memory capacity. Additional PCIe slots via riser cards support GPU accelerators, 25/100GbE NICs and NVMe controllers. The eight hot-plug bays can accommodate a mix of SAS HDDs, SATA SSDs and NVMe SSDs depending on the installed PERC controller and backplane type.
