The Cudy SM220 (SM220) is an SFP copper transceiver that converts a standard SFP fibre slot into a Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000Mbps) copper RJ45 port. This allows network administrators to add flexible copper Gigabit uplinks to SFP-capable managed switches, routers, and media converters without requiring a dedicated copper SFP+ port on the parent device.
The module is plug-and-play compatible with SFP cages from major vendors including Cisco, Mikrotik, Ubiquiti, TP-Link, and others, eliminating the need for vendor-locked transceivers. Standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable connects directly to the module’s RJ45 port for distances up to 100 metres. The compact SFP form factor takes up a single slot on the host device. Cudy’s SM220 is a cost-effective, flexible solution for expanding copper connectivity on fibre-capable infrastructure.
